“Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;” Ephesians 2:19 (KJV)
The worship of God is something that has been with humans from the beginning of time. After the fall, men have sought to fill the void of a lost identity with several things.
In fact, the several religions of this world seek to find acceptance with their gods or with themselves in order to satisfy their inner longings for something more than their usual experiences.
The truth is that, man’s fall (in Adam), first of all caused him to lose the mandate of Earth dominion given him by God and he became subject to the very thing he was empowered to subdue. He also lost his union with the Lord such that he actually hid himself from God after he fell.
God created man to rule the Earth and to bring Heaven into the new haven (of the earth) God made for him. He was to do this with God. To learn the ways of the Lord, know his will and bring his heavenly glory into the Earth realm. Man’s fall made him a stranger to God and to his God-given purpose.
In the course of time, God called out a people from the race of men as his own special people. He made a covenant with them, gave them a law, and a priesthood. These are the children of Israel whose call started with the man called Abraham, God’s very own friend.
Prior to the call of this special nation of Israel, there were great people who had a great testimony before the Lord and they walked perfect in God’s sight. There was Enoch, Noah, Job and many others. All these are people God had great respect for.
In contrast, the large majority of the population of men did not know God. These are people who were not part of God’s covenant with Israel; pagans, lovers of evil, worshipers of false gods and deeply immersed in all forms of wickedness. These people were referred to as the Gentiles.
The Gentiles were the vast majority of people who had no dealings with God and were estranged to him. In the purposes and workings of God amidst his people, the Gentiles were complete aliens with no inheritance and no access to God’s family; total strangers to God’s covenant of blessing.
…the Gentiles were complete aliens with no inheritance and no access to God’s family; total strangers to God’s covenant of blessing.
If you were not born a Jew or proselytized as one, the above really described you: Godless and without hope. But God had a plan for the Gentiles; all of us in different countries on different continents of the world. God had a plan from the beginning of time to include us in his glorious family. Hallelujah!
The coming of the Lord Jesus Christ made it possible. The death, burial and resurrection of the Lord opened the door of entry for the gentiles into the new body called the Church. The gap was bridged and a hopeless and Godless race of men was brought into God’s holy household. O what a privilege and an honor.
In our day, there are still many who are without God in this world. That is why we have been called to preach the Gospel of God’s eternal salvation through Christ to everyone. The opening of the door of salvation for the gentiles will be closed very soon. This is because we are at the very tail end of the age. A new age is about to begin; the millennial reign of Christ. As a result, God is gathering all things into Christ before we are ushered into the millennium.
In our day, there are still many who are without God in this world. That is why we have been called to preach the Gospel of God’s eternal salvation through Christ to everyone.
Remember the ten virgins. There is a very short space of time before the Lord returns. If you are reading this today and you are still a stranger to God and the blessing of His household, now will be the time to surrender your life to him. There is no better time than now.
If you are already in the Lord, don’t be distracted. Don’t fall back into the world. If you have, repent and seek the Lord. He’ll help you back up and empower you to reach out to many who are yet to enter the door.
We are no more strangers and foreigners. Glory to God forever.
We are no more strangers and foreigners. Glory to God forever. We have been called into the sea of men to be fishers; to usher them into our Daddy’s Kingdom with a heavenly welcome and together with our Lord and savior Jesus Christ, we will live and rule happily ever after.
